Buyers weighed in on new model changes
Lexington Homes is debuting a new model, the Grant Elite, at its Lexington Square community in Bridgeport. The new 2,216-square-foot model has three bedrooms, 2½ baths and is base-priced from the mid $300,000s.
A new model has debuted at Lexington Square, a community of 39 single-family rowhomes in Bridgeport. Developed by Chicago-based Lexington Homes.
Lexington Square recently revised its floor plans based on homebuyer feedback. One new model has opened, and another is expected to open this fall.
Lexington Square is located at 3704 S. Sangamon St., eight blocks west of U.S. Cellular Field. The community offers two floor plans ranging from 2,216 to 2,507 square feet. Base-priced from the mid $300,000s, the three-story homes come standard with three bedrooms, 2½ baths, rooftop decks (with complete views of the Chicago skyline) and attached two-car garages. Additional bedrooms and baths are available.
“We’re always striving to improve our floor plans and the functionality of each home,” said Jeff Benach, co-principal of Lexington Homes. “After garnering some great feedback from homebuyers, we decided to make some alterations to both floor plans at Lexington Square. Changes are primarily on the main living level of each home in the kitchen, living room and dining room areas. The homes are much more open now, and improved traffic flow and increased storage space are just a few results of the changes.”
One of the new models is the fully-decorated Grant Elite. The 2,216-square-foot model has three bedrooms and 2½ baths. The home is base-priced from the mid $300,000s. “With the new-and-improved Grant Elite, we made some pretty major structural changes to the main living area,” said Benach. “We moved the powder room over to a side wall, which allowed us to open up the entire floor. We were able to add two square feet to the kitchen, along with additional cabinetry and countertop space.”
The model’s kitchen now has an island which provides additional storage and extra space for prepping and serving food, as well as an eat-in area with room for a table and chairs. A laundry closet is located off the kitchen, as is an oversized balcony. The kitchen features GE stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.
“Previously, the kitchen had a pass-through window to the dining room, but we tore that out and now the rooms essentially flow into one another,” he added. “There is still a peninsula bar in the dining room, but the wall that separated the areas is gone. The whole level has a more open, expansive feel, and we think it is better for entertaining and conversation flow.”
The lower level of the model features an entry foyer with ceramic tile and a carpeted family room, as well as a powder room.
The upper level of the model includes a master suite and two secondary bedrooms. The master bath features ceramic flooring, a walk-in shower with ceramic tiling surround and a dual-bowl vanity with granite countertop. A dual-master suite option also is available in the Grant Elite design.
The second new floor plan, for which a fully decorated model will open soon, is the 2,507-square-foot Buckingham. Priced from the upper $300,000s, this home includes three bedrooms and 2½ baths.
“The Buckingham lives like a single-family home. Plus, because this design is always located on an end, it includes extra windows for added natural light,” said Benach. “Like the Grant Elite, alterations to this plan also were mainly made in the kitchen and main living areas, making this home feel even more open and expansive.”
Benach says the Buckingham kitchen was opened up further by removing a wall at the top of the stairs, so there is now more of a great-room style feel to the entire level. The kitchen now features a cut-out similar to a picture window that opens the kitchen to the living/dining room, which was previously closed off, says Benach. The kitchen includes granite countertops, 42-inch maple cabinets, GE stainless steel appliances, and a large island with cabinetry on both sides.
The main level also includes hardwood flooring throughout, as well as a powder room, laundry closet and oversized balcony off the eat-in kitchen. The living room can be upgraded to include a wall fireplace with marble surround nestled between two tiers of built-in shelving.
The home’s front entry opens to the lower level, which includes a wall closet, powder room and a family room located off the foyer. "Buyers can opt to include an extra bedroom and full bath on this level, which is a convenient option for those with older kids living at home, frequent guests, or live-in relatives,” said Benach.
Upstairs, the Buckingham includes a master suite with a walk-in closet and two secondary bedrooms. The master bath has a soaking tub and walk-in shower; a dual-bowl raised-height vanity; a private water closet; and ceramic flooring.
Two secondary bedrooms feature wall closets. The upper level also includes a full bath and linen closet, as well as a flight of stairs that leads up to the rooftop deck. "In addition to great views, the rooftop decks can easily accommodate a grill, patio furniture set and more, offering residents a great spot to host barbecues during the summer," said Benach.
All homes at Lexington Square include brushed nickel lighting fixtures and oversized private balconies off the kitchens; 42-inch maple cabinets, granite countertops and GE stainless steel appliances in the kitchen; hardwood flooring throughout the main level; and raised-height vanities with granite or marble countertops in all baths.
Buyers also can select from a variety of options and upgrades, including fireplaces, alternate bedroom configurations and additional powder rooms and full baths. In addition, a selection of finely-appointed, specially-priced homes are available for immediate move-in.
