Originally founded by Ron Benach in 1974, Lexington Homes was the largest homebuilder in the Chicago area during the 1970s and 1980s. Benach sold the company in 1989 and then founded Concord Homes, which he sold to a national homebuilder in 2002. He revived the Lexington Homes name with the launch of his latest homebuilding venture in late 2006. “It’s been more than three decades since we built our first Lexington home,” said Jeff Benach, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Lexington Homes. “Over the years with the different companies my father founded, we’ve kept the core of our management team together. So it’s incredibly satisfying to bring that group full circle at Willow Place, building our first homes as the new Lexington.”

Located on the south side of Wheeling, at Foster and Old Willow roads, Willow Place includes 58 townhomes in two floor plans.

Townhomes measure 1,789 to 2,012 square feet and come standard with three bedrooms, 2_ baths and attached two-car, rear-loading garages. Base prices range from $349,900 to $399,900.

According to Benach, Willow Place exemplifies Lexington Homes’ focus on residential developments in close-in suburbs as well as city locations. “An established, vibrant suburb like Wheeling has so much to offer buyers, but we saw an unmet demand for townhomes in the community,” said Benach. “So we’re excited to add to the housing options in the area by introducing our townhomes here, a product we’ve built, honed and refined for many years.”

He noted the floor plans available at Willow Place give buyers the choice of two distinctive layouts. The 2,012-square-foot Hickory plan has an open, contemporary feel, with a two-story volume ceiling in the combined living and dining rooms. Additionally, the home offers a first-floor master suite, which Benach noted is an appealing feature for empty nesters. “Residents can do most of their day-to-day living on one level, but they also have two bedrooms and a loft upstairs, which is a great multi-purpose space that can be used as an office, media room or playroom,” he said. “Buyers are especially drawn to the main-level master suite.” While the 1,789-square-foot Chestnut floor plan also has an open layout on the main level, with combined living and dining areas adjacent to an eat-in kitchen, the home offers a more traditional configuration with all three bedrooms upstairs. Buyers can opt for a second master suite in lieu of two secondary bedrooms.

Both plans also include a family room and extra storage space on the lower level.

“Theres a storage area beneath the stairs, next to the door from the garage,” said Benach. “It’s a convenient place to store bulky items.”

All homes at Willow Place include 42-inch maple cabinets and GE stainless steel appliances in the kitchen; 9-foot first-floor ceilings; oversized private balconies; volume ceilings in the master suite; and a dual-bowl vanity with a cultured marble top in the master bath. Buyers also can select from a variety of options and upgrades, including fireplaces, alternate bedroom configurations and additional baths.

Willow Place is located approximately three miles west of Interstate 294 and near the Prospect Heights stop on the Metra North Central line.

“The O’Hare Transfer station is only one stop south on this line, so getting to and from the airport is extremely convenient for those who travel frequently for business,” said Benach. The community is also in proximity to Wheeling’s restaurant row on Milwaukee Avenue, which includes Benihana, Bob Chinn’s Crab House, Pete Miller’s Seafood and Steak, Hackneys and Buca di Beppo. Recreational amenities such as the Chevy Chase Golf Club and the Wheeling Park District’s state-of-the-art aquatic center are also nearby.
