Chicago-based Lexington Homes has announced the beginning of sales and the opening of three models at Lexington Park, a community of 120 townhomes in northwest-suburban Des Plaines. Lexington Park marks the second of three communities Lexington Homes plans to launch in the suburbs and city this year.

Located within walking distance of downtown Des Plaines and the Des Plaines Metra Station, at Western and Harding Avenues, Lexington Park offers three floor plans ranging from 1,605 to 1,913 square feet. Base-priced from $324,990 to $379,990, the three-story homes come standard with two to three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and attached two-car garages. Options allow for additional bedrooms and powder rooms.

“Lexington Park is the first new-construction townhome community in Des Plaines to offer buyers the charm of a quiet suburban setting, plus urban conveniences, such as retail, entertainment and public transportation options within footsteps of their front door,” said Jeff Benach, co-principal of Lexington Homes (www.lexingtonchicago.com). “And these city-like characteristics extend to the design of the home as well, with standard features such as Juliette balconies and eight-foot front doors that are more common in city developments.”

One of the models available for viewing is the fully-decorated Warrington. The 1,758-square-foot model includes signature touches like arched entryways; a kitchen pass-thru; a built-in window seat in the master bedroom; and a den located off the kitchen. The home is base-priced from $348,490.

“It's rare to find a townhome that includes a main-level den - whether in the city or the suburbs,” said Benach. “The addition of this room provides young families with a great area for a playroom, while other buyers will enjoy the ideal location near the kitchen - the nerve center of any home - as it provides a quiet space to set up a home office or project room, or just relax with a cup of coffee and a good book.”

Entering through the front entry, visitors can proceed down a half-flight of stairs to the finished lower level, which is decorated as a game room with a poker table and flat-screen TV, or up a half-flight of stairs to the main level. The main level features a den, powder room, laundry closet, open living/dining room with a Juliette balcony, and an oversized balcony off the eat-in kitchen. The kitchen has been upgraded to include granite countertops and hardwood floors.

Upstairs, the Warrington has dual master suites on opposite ends of the home, which affords roommates with plenty of privacy. It is also a smart layout for downsizers who frequently host visiting family, noted Benach.

The master suite at the front of the home features a built-in window seat, vaulted ceiling and walk-in closet. The master bath has been upgraded to include light granite countertops and ceramic tiling in the tub and shower surround.

The second master suite features a walk-in closet and a full bath with a window that provides extra sunlight. The bath vanity has been upgraded to include a granite countertop. Buyers can also opt for two secondary bedrooms in lieu of a second master suite.

A second fully-decorated model available for viewing is the 1,913-square-foot Coventry. Priced from $379,990, the Coventry includes three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths.

From the front entry, residents can proceed up one half-flight of stairs to the main level or down one half-flight of stairs to a finished lower level that is decorated as a family room. Similar to the Warrington, the main level features a Juliette balcony off the living/dining room area and an oversized balcony and laundry closet off the eat-in kitchen. The kitchen also includes a large island with an overhang for accommodating stools and a pass-thru connecting to the dining area.

“This kitchen provides a plethora of built-in storage space, including a double-door closet pantry and 42-inch base cabinets under the pass-thru,” said Benach. “Whether residents want to gather with the family around the island for a quick snack or host a dinner party in their dining room, the kitchen has ample room to prepare, serve and store any size meal.”

The upper level includes a master suite that comes standard with a vaulted ceiling, two secondary bedrooms that are shown as a guest room and a home office, and a full hall bath. Both secondary bedrooms are shown with vaulted ceilings, while the luxury master bath has been upgraded to include a soaking tub and walk-in shower.

A third model, the 1,605-square-foot Bristol, showcases many of the features found in the Warrington and Coventry plans, but is decorated as a vignette to allow buyers to envision their own furniture in the home. Priced from $324,990, the Bristol includes two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths.

Upstairs, the Bristol features dual master suites, a laundry closet and two linen closets in the main hall. The master suite at the front of the home includes a vaulted ceiling, Juliette balcony, walk-in closet and a master bath with “his” and “hers” vanities. The secondary master suite is shown with a vaulted ceiling and includes two double-door wall closets and a full bath with a window.

All homes at Lexington Park include brushed nickel lighting fixtures, Juliette balconies and oversized private balconies; 42-inch maple cabinets and GE stainless steel appliances in the kitchen; and a dual-bowl raised-height vanity with a cultured marble top in the master bath. Buyers also can select from a variety of options and upgrades, including fireplaces, alternate bedroom configurations and additional powder rooms.

Lexington Park is located within walking distance of the Des Plaines Metra Station, making the community convenient for those commuting to the Loop. Buyers are also within easy reach of downtown Des Plaines' dining options, including Olivetti's, The Black Ram and Cheeseburger in Paradise.

In addition, residents of Lexington Park will enjoy the nearby recreational amenities, including golf at Rob Roy Golf Course and Old Orchard Country Club, and hiking and biking at Big Bend Lake and Potawatomi Woods.
