Based on 30 years of taking homebuyers through this process, Denise has one top tip: “If you are considering options or upgrades, focus on the things that are hard to change after a home is built,” says Denise. “Painting and simple fixes are things that can be done afterward. Instead, upgrade your cabinetry because it’s too expensive to pull it out afterward. Consider what floors you want in the long term. We offer hardwood floors as standard on our main levels. Some people want it throughout the house, and upstairs is a good idea. You won’t want to do that after the fact. ”

When asked for decorating tips or advice, she says “Shop on sites like Wayfair or Overstock to find great pieces at a great value. And mix expensive pieces with inexpensive pieces—use a sofa and mix it with a DIY project or an item from a thrift store.”
