For the past several years, gray has been everywhere in home design. But the color is being pushed aside in favor of the more startling classic: black and white. Black makes a bold statement while going extremely well with white, everyone’s new favorite base color. Using black as a base also allows designers to incorporate other favorite supporting colors, like navy and gold.
In Lexington model homes, we love to present stylish interior design that compliments the location. Since Lexington Village is located in one of Chicago’s hottest neighborhoods, Avondale, our model needed to reflect the urban location. We used these new colors to design a model home that suits red-hot Avondale perfectly!
And our model is getting tons of attention—Forbes recently featured the Lexington Village model in their article, “Industry Experts Predict Top 5 Trends In Residential Housing For 2020.” One top trend the article noted was that “black is back.”
From the article:
For the last decade, gray has dominated as the “new neutral.” However, according to a recent survey of professional interior designers by Sherwin-Williams, two-thirds of those interviewed said that black is their new go-to color. “In doing our research, it felt like gray had been overdone – we wanted a model that looked fresh and inspiring with an urban sensibility,” said Jeff Benach, principal of Lexington Homes. “Similar to gray, a black-and-white color palette can work with almost any other shade for nice pops of color; plus, it’s gender neutral, so it appeals to everyone.”
