The historic Des Plaines Theatre held their GRAND OPENING on Friday November 11th, where attendees enjoyed hors’ doeuvres, cocktails and musical entertainment, by The Shout Section Big Band.
With the flick of a switch, the marquee at the Des Plaines Theatre in downtown came alive at 8 p.m. to the roaring claps of an appreciative crowd. After being dark for nearly two years while workers undertook a massive renovation and restoration project, the theater’s reopening was greeted with perhaps as much anticipation as the first time, around 86 years ago!
The community is very excited to have this venue reopened, as are Lexington Park’s Sales Consultants, Vicky and Mary. The ladies had an opportunity to have a “sneak peak” during the renovation of the theatre, where they met with one of the owners, Dhitu Bhagwakar, as he discussed plans for the theatre’s future. He hopes to create a community of arts organizations to bring the community together for a place to enjoy live entertainment. Even more exciting, our Lexington Park homeowners can take a nice stroll to enjoy this new enhancement to the downtown Des Plaines area.
