New Decorated Models Open August 11 at Lexington Heritage at Arlington Heights

When Denise Benach, Director of Interior Design at Lexington Homes, and the rest of the Lexington team begin working on designing a model home, they bring it to life. The best way to do that? Give the home an imagined family—complete with how they spend their days, favorite things to do and places to hang out, and even names.

“Our homes are all designed to match how we live today,” said Denise. “We have to know who our buyer is, and we are inspired by not only who will live in the home, but how they will live in it. We dictate a script so that all design choices, furniture, and decor are true to how a family will make this a home.”

Lexington is excited to be opening two new model homes at Lexington Heritage at Arlington Heights. The homes are the 2 bedroom Berkley Model (which begins at $399,990) and the 3 bedroom Summit (which begins at $429,990), both part of the Club collection, 2-story suburban-styled townhomes with basements and private backyards. In these particular model homes, Lexington imagines their appeal for empty nesters.

The 2 bedroom model, the Berkley, includes 2.5 bathrooms, with a memorable 2-story greatroom. “In this home our imagined people who have lived locally in a single family home, their kids are gone, and now they want to take care of much less home. This home includes a large master suite with a master closet so big it could almost be another bedroom. They love tons of light and space so they will love the great room,” said Denise. “The volume great room includes extra large windows, making the space feel grand, open and airy. This gives us a large slate for tons of design opportunity. We added moldings and architectural details on the wall to bring depth and texture without overpowering the room. It’s an inexpensive, tasteful way to decorate.” Denise notes that this same configuration of the Berkley also appeals to a young married couple either with one small child or none “yet,” and that a 3rd bedroom can be added to the home that might appeal to young families who want the no maintenance benefit.

The 3-bedroom model, the Summit, includes 2.5 bathrooms, including a luxury master bath. “In this model, our family was empty nesters—a couple with kids in college. We imagined their need for extra space for storage, and extra bedrooms for when their kids come home for visits. We imagined a desire to have holiday dinners with the family, so they brought their dining room table with them from their previous home, and we have space for it. And the couple gets beautiful master bedroom suite—probably the size you’d see in a single family home—with a glam master bathroom,” said Denise. You might wonder, what makes a bathroom glam? It includes a free standing tub, an oversized shower, options for rain shower sprayers, and an extended vanity—it’s oversized, the length of the bathroom itself for extra storage and counter space. “The bathroom is enormous,” said Denise.

The design in both of the models is trendy and up-to-date. “Each has its own feel and theme—when you walk in, each feels different.” The Berkley includes a wide plank floor, white cabinetry with black accents. Paint colors are blues with white, which is very soothing and welcoming. The Summit includes a lot of gold accents on wood, which is very popular in design right now. It also includes a huge mural in the secondary bedroom of the summit that is one big flower. “You walk in there and you are like, ‘Wow!’ It expands the room.” said Denise. “We love when people come into our models and want to know where everything is from—we’re sure that will happen here as well.”
